Moby (Richard Melville Hall) is an American DJ, singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and performer, working in a variety of genres - from electronics to pop, rock and punk. Born September 11, 1965 in Harlem (New York).

He is a solo artist, most of the studio recordings he makes himself, and at concerts the musician is accompanied by his rock band.

At the age of nine, he began to take piano lessons and guitar lessons. The nickname "Moby" Richard received because a distant relative he had Herman Melville, the author of "Moby Dick." As a teenager, he played the guitar in various bands, beginning with the punk band The Vatican Commandos and ending with the anarchic band Flipper and with the well-known Ultra Vivid Scene team. But in 1989 he changed punk to electronic music. The first album - in the style of techno - was released in 1992 (Moby).
